World Religions is a college preparatory course designed to explore some of the biggest and most influential religions in the world. It is focused on exploring new and different traditions, expanding critical thinking, and developing students of competence, conscience, and compassion.
The course is generally divided into two sections: Eastern Religions and Western Religions. The Eastern Religions included are: Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism. The Western Religions included are: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
Although these divisions are artificial, they do serve the student in understanding the broad ideas of each of the major religions. As this is a survey course, the specific details of World Religions are minimized.
